When looking for the best things to do in Saint Lucia, you’ll find a variety of facts about popular destinations in the island’s southward, such as the finest waterfalls, and the island’s north, such as Rodney Bay. Castries, the largest city on the island, is not to be neglected, and it is well worthwhile time spent there.
So, to make your trip easier, we put up this list of the greatest things to do in Castries with Caribbean Airlines Booking.
1. Castries Central Market & Vendors Arcade
Castries Central Market and the Vendors Arcade are terrific opportunities to experience the hustle and bustle of this small city, whether you’re looking to mix with locals, get some fresh produce, or pick up those tacky holiday trinkets. Local sellers with their tabletop wares are impossible to overlook! Castries Central Market has a variety of food vendors, beverages, apparel, and souvenirs. There are no food options accessible at the vendor’s arcade.
2. Castries City Viewpoint
Morne Fortune Viewpoint offers stunning panoramic views over St Lucia’s capital city and further north. We tell you to rent a car in St Lucia so that you can explore vistas and magnificent sights like these at your leisure. From here, you may enjoy stunning views of the ocean, Vigie airport, and the city of Castries. On cruise ship days, you may also enjoy an almost bird’s-eye view of the cruise ship in Castries harbor. They were referred to as “our skyscrapers” by one taxi driver. They were 8-10 stories high.
3. Meadows Battery & Married Women’s Quarters
We happened upon this hidden gem by chance while driving around the airport and Vigie Beach area. Volunteers have labored for several years to clean up the site, allowing tourists like us to marvel at the original remains. Take in the views of Castries and the Caribbean Sea, watch planes land and take off on the runway in front of you, and take great photos. The Battery and Women’s Quarters have little heritage; we looked online but couldn’t discover much, since there is no signage. However, it left much to the imaginations.

4. Immaculate Conception
Did you know St. Lucia has the Caribbean’s biggest cathedral?! Greetings to the little basilica of the Conception of the Immaculate. We were fortunate enough to visit this massive, gorgeous Cathedral during a service. With open doors to the public, it was difficult not to be in by the many people singing, dancing, and enjoying the service inside this Cathedral’s gorgeous architecture. The interior design, completed in 1767 by St. Basil St. Omer, a Lucian artisan and National Heritage hero, shocked us all!
5. Tapion Shoal
Tapion Shoal is on Tapion Road on the south side of Castries. We decided to go for a drive and find out for ourselves. We took a short walk up and around the coastline after parking, in the general area where we knew land met the ocean. Tapion Shoal was what we discovered! What appears to be a small replica of the film Shutter Island is actually the navigation signal for Castries Harbour’s south shore.
6. Vigie Beach
Vigie Beach is on the outskirts of Castries. As you approach closer to the airport, you’ll notice many cars parked. They usually stay here all day. Don’t be concerned. This is not to say that the beach is packed; taxi drivers are standing by for tourists. The beach is long and somewhat wide, making it ideal for a stroll, lying down and relaxing, or going for a dip. They provide a variety of drinks and cuisine and have a BBQ going. The big covered dining area shared by the two bars is ideal for taking a break from the sun.
The land of Castries is well connected with Caribbean Airlines Flight booking so spend your vacation in Castries with your family and friends.
